Christmas was over and we had come to our last day in Puerto Rico, so we decided to go back to Old San Juan and visit the Castillo san Felipe Del Morro. El Morro had a very important function – to protect Puerto Rico from plundering pirates going into the Eastern Caribbean. They would try to stop to replenish provisions and plunder the Spanish gold that was kept in San Juan. Spain managed to retain control of the fort until the Spanish-American war in 1898. After this war, Puerto Rico passed on to be a territory of the United States. The pictures that I am including were taken on a rainy, dark and windy day, they are a little dark because I took them with my phone. Who was the most famous Puerto Rican pirate?
